Custom EAs Built for Prop Firm Rules
Most funded accounts are lost to a rule, not to the strategy: one bad day past the daily loss limit, a trade held through news, or a drawdown measured on equity rather than balance. We build custom MT5 and MT4 Expert Advisors that enforce your firm's rules in code, so the EA itself never breaks them.
Rules we build into the EA
- Daily loss limit
- Calculated the way your firm calculates it (balance or equity, start of day in the firm's server time), with a safety buffer. When it is reached the EA closes positions and stops until the next day.
- Maximum and trailing drawdown
- Static or trailing drawdown tracked on every tick against equity, with a hard stop before the firm's limit.
- News and weekend rules
- No new trades, or flat positions, around high-impact news and before the weekend, if your firm's rules require it.
- Consistency and lot rules
- Caps on daily profit share, maximum lot size and number of open positions, so the account stays inside consistency rules.
- Minimum trading days and holding times
- Logic for minimum trading days and minimum trade duration where a firm sets them.
- Audit log
- Every risk decision is logged with time and reason, so you can show exactly why the EA traded or stood aside.
How a prop firm EA project runs
- 01
Rules and specification
You send your strategy and the firm's rulebook. We write both into one specification, including how each limit is measured, and you confirm it before any code is written.
- 02
Build
We code the strategy and the rule guards in MQL5 or MQL4. The guards sit above the strategy and can always overrule it.
- 03
Rule tests
Besides normal backtests, we run scenarios built to breach each rule and check the EA stops in time.
- 04
Forward test
The EA runs on a demo account with the same server time and conditions as the firm, before you use it on a challenge.
- 05
Handover and support
Source code, compiled EA, documentation and test reports. When a firm changes its rules, we can update the guards as a follow-up project.
What you receive
- Full MQL5 or MQL4 source code and the compiled EA
- A specification mapping each firm rule to the code that enforces it
- Strategy tester reports and rule-breach test results
- Forward-test log from a demo account
- A user guide covering every input and guard
- Bug-fix support after delivery
Why QuantFX for prop firm EAs
- Funded-trader experience
- Our founder has a funded-trader track record across four proprietary trading firms. We know how the rules are measured in practice, not only how they read.
- Risk limits are how we work
- Our own engine enforces per-trade stops, a daily loss stop and a drawdown halt on every live strategy. We build the same discipline into client EAs.
- Built for firms as well as traders
- Prop firms and trading companies use us to build and run strategies on their own infrastructure, including white-label deployments.
- No custody
- QUANT-FX INFRASTRUCTURE LTD builds software only. The EA runs on your account; we never hold or manage client money.
How we enforce limits in our own engine
Every strategy we run has a 1% stop-loss per trade, at most three open positions, a 5% daily loss stop and a 10% drawdown halt, enforced by the engine rather than by a person watching the screen.
Client EAs get the same structure, set to your firm's numbers. The full defaults are described on our strategy page.
How pricing works
Each EA is quoted at a fixed price once the specification is agreed. The price depends on the strategy logic and on how many firm rules the EA has to enforce. Adding rule guards to an EA you already own is quoted separately and is usually a smaller project.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the EA pass my prop firm challenge?
- No developer can promise that. We can make sure the EA never breaks the firm's rules, but whether it reaches the profit target depends on the strategy and the market.
- Are EAs allowed by prop firms?
- Many firms allow EAs and some restrict certain types, such as copy trading between accounts, high-frequency or tick-scalping strategies. Check your firm's current rules; we build to them and can add checks that keep the EA inside them.
- Can you add drawdown guards to an EA I already have?
- Yes, if you have the source code. We review it, add the rule guards as a separate layer and test that they overrule the strategy when a limit is near.
- Do I own the source code?
- Yes. You receive the full source code with the compiled EA.
